The open standard RISC-V Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) offers new and exciting design freedoms in advanced processor implementations. At Imperas we develop the RISC-V reference models that are used in almost all of today’s advanced RISC-V projects, including supporting IP providers Andes, Codasip, OpenHW, Microchip, MIPS, NSITEXE (Denso), and SiFive as well as verification models for Dolphin Design, EM Micro (Swatch), Nvidia Networking, Seagate, Silicon Labs, plus many others not yet public. In addition, Imperas works with many partners across the RISC-V ecosystem including Ashling, Breker, Cadence, Google, Metrics, Siemens EDA, Synopsys, and Valtrix, plus the technical working groups at RISC-V International, CHIPS Alliance and OpenHW.
The Imperas technology for simulation and tools is at the center of our commercial products, however, as the models and virtual platforms are released with a permissive open-source license, Imperas established Open Virtual Platforms (OVP) as a community resource to share and exchange models and platforms. This talk will share some of the experiences of working in an EDA start-up environment, in a company at the forefront of the RISC-V ecosystem in processor hardware functional verification and software development. Working at Imperas includes developing, supporting, marketing and selling commercial tools for complex SoCs in AI, automotive, datacenter, industrial and high-reliability applications.
